Located in the heart of SoHo, Chalk Point Kitchen is a health buff’s dream, with a superfood-filled menu catering to all sorts of dietary preferences. It’s not just the end product that makes the meal, but also the restaurant’s mission to deliver modern cuisine while committing to sustainability and sourcing ingredients locally.
Chalk Point’s current menu, #WeThePeaple SS/17, was curated by the restaurant’s executive chef, Adam Maciejewski, formerly of Sweet Kitchen in Massachusetts and Monument Lane in New York. Maciejewski’s background not only involves knowledge of local, heritage food, but also first-hand experience growing up in a farming community.
On the menu, you can find popular superfoods and super fruits, including chia seeds, goji berries, turmeric, and more. If these buzzwords aren’t clicking, no need to whip out your phone to Google it — the menu even includes brief descriptions about each dish and the health benefits of highlighted ingredients. The Daily Meal recommends trying out the Blood Orange Vitamin C Salad to start, made with organic local arugula, blood orange, grapefruit, chia seeds, flax, pomegranate, and spelt berries filled with antioxidants, protein, and nutrients. For the entrée, we suggest ordering the Smoked Cauliflower Steak, a dish with black garlic/blueberry barbecue, toasted farro, and turmeric.
Let’s not forget about the dessert — this season the menu is filled with sweets you won’t feel guilty eating, including Matcha Panna Cotta, which comes with a gluten-free cookie, fresh and dehydrated blackberries, and pistachios; and the Organic Protein Ice Cream Sundae, with carrot ice cream, protein powder, and whipped cream, among other amazing treats.
In addition to the menu, good vibes radiate from Chalk Point Kitchen, which has even attracted celebrities including Kanye West, Adriana Lima, Beyoncé, Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner.
It’s not just New Yorkers and visitors who have had the chance to experience the magic of Chalk Point, but also festivalgoers at this year’s Coachella. At the festival, the restaurant catered influencer events for Galore Magazine, L’Oreal, and Viktor & Rolf. At the activation, the Chalk Point team crafted a menu including “glow bowls” made with edible flowers, Matt Levine, restaurateur and owner of Chalk Point Kitchen, told The Daily Meal.
“We always share behind the scenes of our events on social media so our followers can experience it with us each step of the way,” Levine added. “Being able to take Chalk Point Kitchen's unique offerings outside New York is always a plus.”
Chalk Point is located at 527 Broome St. with offerings available for lunch, brunch, and dinner.
