Can You Return Kitchen Items To HomeGoods Without A Receipt?

HomeGoods — a part of TJX, which also owns Marshalls and T.J. Maxx — is a store brand beloved for its wide array of eclectic products, including a huge kitchen section which is full of cheap baking must-haves. Due to the ever-changing nature of its inventory, no two trips to HomeGoods are ever quite the same. This makes it easy to make some impulse purchases, and to end up with a shopping cart full of fancy and cheap cookware to jazz up your kitchen.

But maybe after taking everything home and putting them in place, you have a little bit of buyer's remorse. You look for the receipt and realize—oh no!—it's gone. What are you to do? Don't worry. While there are some kitchenware retailers like Williams-Sonoma that will not allow you to return items without a receipt, HomeGoods is not one of them. They're happy to have you make the return, just keep in mind that there's a bit of a caveat. 

Yes, if you're stuck with a bunch of HomeGoods kitchen items you don't want and you've lost your receipt, you'll still be able to return them. However, don't expect to be exchanging your stuff for cash. 

Per the HomeGoods website, "Returns without a receipt will receive a non-transferable merchandise credit. A valid government-issued photo ID, name, address, and signature will be required for the merchandise credit to issue and may also be required in order to redeem. Any name printed on the merchandise credit must match the name on the photo ID presented at the time of redemption." 

This policy is applicable for whatever you purchase at HomeGoods, including all kitchen items. But keep in mind there are some other rules too, for example, "items must be returned in original condition." As the policy states: "Original condition means the item is not damaged or altered and returned with all hangtags and original packaging where possible." And even perfect-condition items with receipts can only be exchanged for a refund up to 30 days after purchase. After that, it's store credit no matter what.
