Although it is the biggest fast food franchise in Canada, the coffee shop up north isn't just for Canadian residents; you can find it and its real egg offerings in 16 U.S. states as well. Tim Hortons is one of seven fast food chains we've identified as using 100% real eggs.

In 2021, Tim Hortons announced it would start using freshly cracked eggs in its breakfast bagels, sandwiches, biscuits, and wraps. Then, in 2025, the chain expanded its real egg ways to scrambled. Each egg comes from a Canadian farm, where the farmers meet the rigorous standards for animal care and food safety of the Egg Quality Assurance program. Before this change, the breakfast options with eggs used an omelet mixture that included whole eggs but also had plenty of other additions such as xanthan gum, citric acid, natural flavors, and modified corn starch.

All the extra ingredients added to Tim Hortons' old egg omelets served a purpose, and some people missed them when they were removed. In fact, it became one of many fast food breakfast items that horrified the internet! The additives provided flavor and texture that were consistent and predictable. Some customers found the new egg offerings to be overcooked and rubbery. "Idk how you enjoy these over cooked eggs that taste like rubber. I hate it I know some people who stopped going at Tim's because of it," wrote a commenter on a Reddit post discussing the change. Those who are loyal to the chain have tried to accept the change. "I'm learning to adjust to the new real eggs – I can appreciate that they're going for a more natural approach," another Reddit user mentioned.

When the scrambled eggs came out in 2025, they were met with mixed reviews. A post on Reddit called the loaded scrambled eggs "just ok," while others said they really like them. One Reddit thread posed the question of how the new scrambled eggs are made. "We mix the eggs with milk and a spice .... Pour it on the egg po[a]cher ..cook for 3 minutes .. then chop them all up in the insert once cooked," replied a commenter who presumably works at Tim Hortons.
