Weekly Chef And Menu Report: September 13, 2013

Every week, we take a look at some new chefs and menus that have appeared across the country. Here's this week's roundup:

Boston
Cafe de Boston: Say hello to fall salads! According to a release, Cafe de Boston is selling 3 new salads that reflect the fall season. The three categories include Autumn Orchard Salad, Asian Winter Salad, and a Fall Harvest Salad. They all come with the signature pita bread. The salads are to "help lunch-goers keep their swimsuit figures and maintain energy with healthy ingredient combos." Cafe de Boston will be selling these for $7.94.

Minneapolis, MN
Marvel Bar: According to Eater, Marvel bar will be coming out with additions to their menu. They will feature cocktails, week round punch programs, spirit flights, and more snack products. Some new menu specialties are the house-pickled egg and marinated olives. 

New York
Seäsonal Restaurant & Weinbar: Executive chef and owners Eduard Fraudneder and Wolfgang Ban have unveiled a new menu for Seäsonal Restaurant & Weinbar's, located on 152 W 58th Street, according to a release. Focused primarily on Austrian fare, a new speciality will be a raw section. In addition, you can be sure to look out for items such as gin-cured oysters, Alpine cheese dumplings with bacon broth and kale.

Maya: On September 16th,  at Maya you can celebrate Mexican Independence Day and National Guacamole Day. Richard Sandoval's restaurant will feature items to celebrate the holidays such as guacomoles with mini tostadas, habanero salsa, and tomato.

Manzanilla: Manzanilla, a Spanish brasserie, is coming with a new menu inspired by the fall season. Chef Dani Garcia will feature new dishes such as the Paella de Caza (wild boar paella with munching cheese and porcini mushroom), Berenjenas y Broccolini Frito (roasted eggplant, crispy broccolini, honey and herb yogurt dressing, and Ensiled de Remolacha y Naranja (pickled and roasted beets, oranges, sour cream, and tarragon.) 

City Crab: As described in a press relase, on September 30th, City Crab will be featuring blue crabs for lunch and dinner for $39.99. They come with Old Bay Fries and Slaw and are promoting $3 drafts! In addition to the new feature, City Crab also has a new chef, Nick Cataldo.

Cercle Rouge: Located on 214 W Broadway, Cercle Rouge will have a three course prix fixe menu at $39.99 during the month of September. The menu is inspired by the founder and owner, George Forgeois and his hometown, Provence, France. You can start a with Tarte A La Tomate with warm tomatoes, tart, pesto, and forgeois olive oil and end with Nougat Glace Aux Noix Et Fruits Sec, a frozen mousse with mixed nuts and dried fruits. The menu also features cheeses and the dishes a la carte.

Atrium DUMBO:  Atrium DUMBO has launched a daily happy hour from 5:30 until 7:30, according to a release. Their specials include $1 oysters from Prince Edward Island and Canada and different drinks such as chef Laurent Kalkotour's apple-cucumber mignotte, gaged Sherry vinegar with lemon wedges.

Seattle, WA
Von Trapp's: A press release was made that on Sundays from 10-3, Von Trapp's will have brunch. Some specialties include Wild Huckleberry Kaiserschmarrn (traditional Australian scrambled pancakes with huckleberry, whipped vanilla butter, and maple syrup) or Bratwurst & Mushrooms with sautéed button mushrooms, sliced bratwurst, garlic confit, thyme, and two poached eggs.

Santa Monica, CA
Valentino: Piero Selvaggio, the founder and owner of Valentino, has been inspired by the fall season to change his menu calling it Cucina del Sug. This information was released through a press statement. The Italian cuisine restaurant is known for their dishes that are unique to Sicily and Sardinia. If you pay $70 for the dinner, you will have the chance to taste dishes such as "Spaghetti aglio e olio con i ricci di mare o alla bottarga di muggine – Spaghetti olive oil and garlic with your choice of: Catalina Island sea urchin or authentic Sardinian bottarga; and Malloreddus con purpuzza e fiore Sardo, a Morsel pasta with just made sausage ragù and pecorino cheese" or Quasi "farsu-magru" di vitello con tortino di zucchine e funghi, a roasted veal with zucchini and mushroom tortino.

San Diego, CA
Donut Bar: At the Donut Bar, they are now having two new flavors, as reported by Eater. The root beer float and a new version of the Monte Cristo Sandwich with ham, havarti cheese, cranberry and rasberry compote, and covered in powdered sugar. Get it this Friday and Saturday! 

Chicago, IL
Ada St: Ada St. has introduced a brunch menu, according to Eater. Only from 11 am until 2 pm will there be served dishes such as pretzel bread with maple whipped cream or buttered popcorn grits. Chef Zoe Schor was insipired by the seasonal change to create new fall dishes.
