We Tasted The New Game Of Thrones Beer And It Was Glorious

You think you know beer? You know nothing, Jon Snow! The Daily Meal got to sample the latest Game of Thrones-themed beer from Brewery Ommegang called Fire and Blood named after the House Targaryen's motto, and each of three corked bottle designs features one of Khaleesi's dragons. The ales don't hit stores until next week, The Daily Meal reported, just in time for the season four premiere on April 6th.

We all agreed that the beer, which has a dark, rich coloring, smelled and tasted like a solid, dark Belgian ale. The overwhelming flavor of the beer was definitely a strong, solid bitterness with a nice balance between hops and malt. The beer is supposedly made with ancho chilies (representing, we assume, dragon's breath), but the spice was extremely subtle, and wasn't peppery at all. Fire and Blood was definitely all dark bite, and no sweet, much like the personality, or wrath of Khaleesi's dragons themselves.

Which all boils down to: Fire and Blood is good—no, very good—and especially worth a trip to your local liquor store to crack one open before taking turns on which of your favorite characters is going to kick the bucket next.
