Mother Of Dragons! New Game Of Thrones Beer Released

A Lannister always drinks his draughts. Brewery Ommegang has just announced the release of "Fire and Blood," the latest in their line of Game of Thrones-inspired ales, which will hit stores on March 31st, coinciding with the premiere of the much-anticipated fourth season on April 6th.

Fire and Blood" is inspired by House Targaryen's motto, and the bottles have three different designs featuring Daenerys Targaryen's three dragons: Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion. The beer is brewed with pilsner, spelt, rye, and is spiced with ancho chilies (for that dragon-fire taste). The beer itself is dark red, and the tasting notes include "fruit with sweet malt character that give way to faint dryness."

"Obviously the use of ancho chilies pays homage to the dragons, but the use of rye and spelt wheat links back to the Dothraki people that Daenerys is leading — they are nomads of the plains and these are the grains that would be well at home there," said Brewery Ommegang Brewmaster Phil Leinhart in a statement.
