Turkish Airlines Named 'Best Airline In Europe'
Turkish Airlines has been awarded the title of Best Airline in Europe for a second year at the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
The annual Skytrax survey polled more than 18 million business and leisure air travelers from 100 countries, with the winners announced at the Farnborough Airshow in the U.K. July 12.
Skytrax also named Turkish Airlines, which flies to 200 destinations, the Best Airline in Southern Europe and the Best Premium Economy Class Airline Seat for its Comfort Class seats.
This recent award comes on the heels of an award for Best In-Flight Food by flight comparison site Skyscanner. Turkish Airlines serves Turkish and international cuisine through its Flying Chef service in its Business Class cabin on long-haul transoceanic flights. On each flight, passengers are served rotating menu options, like Turkish meatballs, stuffed eggplant, caprese salad, and walnut pear tart. Turkish Airlines also has a range of special meals, including children's, kosher, vegetarian, and seafood options.
The airline also offers high-tech and luxury amenities including high-speed Wi-Fi broadband Internet access and Live TV on its trans-Atlantic flights from New York and Los Angeles.
One of the fastest growing airline companies, Turkish Airlines has previously received several passenger choice awards from Skytrax, including Best Airline in Southern Europe for the past two years, and the airline and its catering partner Turkish DO&CO were recognized for their economy class catering, taking the Best Food, Economy Class title in 2010.
