On The Tenth Day Of Christmas...

Technically, the Twelve Days of Christmas don't start until Christmas Day, but we're already in the spirit. To celebrate over the next two days, here's the carol, 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' The Daily Meal-style, featuring some New York City dishes enjoyed over the years that we'd be willing to sing about.

Ten Lords a Leaping. Lords/gourds (gourds include: melons, squash, pumpkins, and cucumbers). Leaping/heaping. Ten gourds a-heaping, Hey, these higher numbers get tough

On the tenth day of Christmas, my waiter brought to me clockwise from top: Bobo's Chocolate Pudding; Yerba Buena Perry's Watermelon Fries with Yerba Mate Ketchup; Accademia Di Vino's Pumpkin, Pancetta and Caramelized Onion Pizza; Basta Pasta's Gnocchi di Zucca; The Waverly Inn's Pumpkin Ravioli with Sage Butter; Vinegar Hill House's Roasted Delicata Squash; Lupa's Squash Alla Romana; Kesté's Pizza De Papa with Butternut Squash Cream; Momofuku Ssäm Bar's Seasonal Pickles.

So the carol thus far would go:

On the tenth day of Christmas, my waiter brought to me...
Ten gourds a-heaping,
Nine pies a-twirling,

Eight, made with milk in,
Seven soups worth sipping,
Six eggs for feasting,
Five on-ion rings!

Chicks from four birds,
Three fried French hens,
Two desserts for two,
And Felidia's pear ravioli.
