San Antonio Spurs guard Marco Belinelli and chef Jason Dady joined forces at Umai Mi.

San Antonio Spurs guard Marco Belinelli and chef Jason Dady have teamed up in the kitchen to spread the message behind the Team Up Challenge, an ongoing series that educates young students on the importance of healthy eating and exercise habits.

On Friday, March 7th, Belinelli and chef Dady hosted a Team Up group from Metzger Middle School at Dady’s new San Antonio, Texas restaurant Umai Mi, which serves happily inauthentic modern Asian fare.

Chef Dady prepared his signature green papaya salad with papaya, cherry tomatoes, palm sugar, and Thai chili (also known as bird’s eye chili), as well as a roasted chicken soba salad with sesame vinaigrette. In addition to learning some key components of healthy eating, students learned how professional athletes like Belinelli and his teammates are able to maintain healthy lifestyles.

Throughout the year, the Team Up Challenge will work alongside San Antonio’s Spurs and Rampage, an AHL hockey club, to create more educational programs for local students.
