You may be wondering whether or not cranberry juice actually helps urinary tract infections or if that’s just a myth. No myth. The experts are not lying when they say you can count on cranberries and cranberry juice for solving your urinary tract problems.
Cranberries are filled with hippuric acid, which can help prevent bacteria from sticking to the urethra. Although they may not be as effective as antibiotics, health experts says they can be helpful, especially for the people that are drug resistant or allergic to certain medications. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, studies show that cranberry juice reduced the amount of bacteria in the bladder and another study found that women who consumed cranberry capsules had fewer UTIs than women who consumed a placebo.
Although cranberry juice is a remedy for preventing infection, it may not be the most effective solution once the infection has already spread. If you choose to drink cranberry juice, make sure it is unsweetened and without any additives. If you can’t stand the taste of cranberry juice, there are more ways to help prevent your urinary tract infection and improve urinary health.
