The Unhealthiest Fast Food Breakfasts Slideshow

It wasn't too long ago that fast-food restaurants decided to cash in on breakfast. With Americans getting busier and more impatient by the minute, the demand for before-noon fast food was an untapped goldmine.

There's no arguing that it's not convenient. You're on your way to work, coffee in hand at a brisk powerwalk, and suddenly your stomach growls. You, like most Americans, aren't uber-prepared with yogurt and fresh fruit waiting in your office fridge. But you do pass by a fast food joint or two on your way to the office.

You can stop in and in a few short minutes, you're only a couple dollars down and have a filling, tasty breakfast in your hands.

But to no one's surprise, the breakfast menus got ugly fast. Health standards got thrown to the wayside in favor of promises of bigger, better, and more indulgent options than those offered by other fast food competitors.

Items labeled "mega," "supreme," "loaded," and "ultimate" are guaranteed calorie bombs. But sometimes, it's not so simple to tell. We've sniffed out the worst of the worst so that you aren't fooled by their hefty promises and misleading advertising.

It's time you find out which menu items will annihilate your arteries — before it's too late.

Au Bon Pain: 2 Eggs, Sausage, and Cheddar on Asiago Bagel

They put more cheese on a cheese bagel. Add on the fat-soaked sausage and two eggs and you've got a meal that puts your blood pressure to the test. With the grease dripping down your chin, you'll be able to tell immediately that this wasn't the healthy order you expected from this green-branded chain.

Burger King: BK Ultimate Breakfast Platter

This order is honestly three breakfasts in one. The platter they serve this on must be giant to fit it all: The platter comes with hash browns, eggs, sausage, a biscuit, and three pancakes. Add the butter on the biscuit and a drizzle of syrup on your stack and you're in for hundreds more calories than you bargained for.

Burger King: EGG-NORMOUS Burrito

Judging by the name, are you surprised? This burrito is, well, enormous. Maybe it's the queso that kills this one. Or maybe it's the bacon. The sausage? Likely, it's all three. Together with the eggs and tortilla wrap, they tally up to quite the calorie count.

What's even more enormous after this order is the regret.

How much saturated fat can you fit between two buns? We now have our answer.

It comes served with extra butter (just in case all the frying and grease wasn't enough) and a packet of maple syrup.
