Where To Celebrate National Cheeseburger Day In Boston

Fridays are always something to celebrate — but some are more special than others. This Friday, September 18, is National Cheeseburger Day. Yes, celebrate the weekend and one of America's most loved food items, all in one go. Hit up one of these spots for some of the best burgers in town....you'll quickly realize you are going to have to make the celebration a week long!

Alden and Harlow
After a few years at Russell House Tavern, chef Michael Scelfo perfected a number of creative burgers that were only available as a "secret order." At Alden and Harlow the burger is no longer secret, but a staple item on their eclectic menu — it does not disappoint.

Back Bay Social Club
For those who may want to gorge even more while enjoying their burger on Friday/National Cheeseburger Day, Back Bay Social Club has a $22 burger on their menu — dry-aged beef smothered in caramelized onions and sharp cheddar. Go big, not home.

The Blue Ox
No burger list would be complete without this year's winner from Boston Magazine's Burgers of Boston. The Sin Burger with applewood smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, truffle aioli, lettuce, and tomato is simple and balanced with just enough intrigue to have you immediately wanting more.

Craigie on Main
Only available at the bar, this burger has often been named Boston's best burger. It's a simple classic, no frills except for their homemade ketchup that's slightly tangy and really makes all the difference.

Drink
Only 15 are available daily and they tend to fly out of the kitchen. Theirs is made with 7X beef, exclusively sold to the Barbara Lynch Gruppo. Employees here swear by them, and fiercely too — so be careful when talking burgers within earshot...and they have ears everywhere.

River Bar
Arguably a reason to make your way to Assembly Row in and of itself, River Bar also boasts an incredible burger. Grass-fed, bulgogi marinade, bacon spring Rolls and spicy mayo. You're welcome.

Shake Shack
Head to any of Boston's Shake Shack locations for their world famous burger — it's sure to blow your taste buds out of the water. Better still, head to Shake Shack between September 21 to October 4 for their Shacktober Fest Brat Burger: 100% all-natural Angus beef burger topped with a flat-top griddled bacon cheddar-stuffed bratwurst, crispy ShackMeister Ale-marinated shallots and ShackSauce.

Tavern Road
With some ardent followers, Tavern Road's original cheeseburger with sriracha baked in is now back on their newly revamped menu. With street food-inspired menu items, theirs is a glorified slider made with a Creekstone Farms beef patty, smoked cheddar, bacon, and sriracha aioli on a beautifully buttered roll.

West Bridge
Although not a regular item on their menu, West Bridge releases a limited number as part of their late night menu starting at 10 p.m. Bacon, lettuce, taleggio cheese, tomato, and the tastiest, juiciest meat you can sink your teeth into — it's a perfect solution to that late night craving.
