Where to Brunch on Mother’s Day 2015 in Chicago

Let Mom know how much you appreciate her by treating her to one of these delicious brunches in Chicago

Celebrate Mother’s Day with treats at Chicago restaurants, like Brass Monkey’s upside down pineapple cake.

Let’s face it: mothers rule the world. Where would we be without them? These ladies have been there throughout the years, providing us with support, comfort, and advice (though at times unsolicited). If anyone deserved a day dedicated to them, it’s definitely our moms. Here are some suggestions of where to brunch to make sure your mother gets treated like a queen:

Balena is kicking off their first-ever brunch on the best brunch day of them all, Mother’s Day. Their prix fixe Mother’s Day menu will feature three courses starting with sweet breads like lemon zeppoli with strawberry preserves, followed by savory selections like marinated artichoke and mint. Diners can then choose a brunch entrée such as a ramp and potato frittata or smoked trout with marinated endive. Brunch is $39 per diner, and reservations are recommended.

The Brass Monkey
Does your mom like to get funky? Then brunch at The Brass Monkey will be the perfect way to celebrate. Get started with a choice of fondue or seven layer dip, then get in on classic favorites like quiche, Shake-and-Bake pork chop, and pineapple upside down cake. Brunch is available from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and reservations can be made by calling the restaurant.

The Bristol
A special prix fixe menu will accompany the traditional brunch menu at The Bristol for Mother’s Day, featuring dishes from their newly revamped menu. Enjoy a pastry board along with pumpernickel and a variety of spreads, followed by your choice of entrée from the menu. You may want to try the special Cuban sandwich with Catalpa Grove pork and egg. The prix fixe menu is $39 per person; call  head to reserve a table.

Chicago Cut’s
Go all out for Mom with Chicago Cut’s Mother’s Day buffet. She will want for nothing with the vast array of dishes and stations available. Enjoy fresh seafood such as oysters, crab legs, and shrimp cocktail; classic brunch dishes like eggs benedict, challah French toast, and Applewood smoked bacon will be available; and don’t forget the dry aged prime rib and make-your-own-omelet stations. Price per adult is $75, while children are $25; call to make reservations.

Fig & Olive
So perhaps taking your mother on a trip to the Greek Isles is out of the question, but here’s the next best thing: a three-course, Mediterranean-inspired brunch at Fig & Olive. Choices include truffle mushroom croquettes, rosemary lamb skewers, and Koroneiki olive oil and nougat glace. Brunch is available for $40 per person and served from 11am to 3:45pm. Call (312) 445-0060 to make reservations.

Labriola Ristorante & Café
Labriola Ristorante & Café, recently opened on Michigan Avenue, is a perfect spot to take Mom before a day of shopping on the Magnificent Mile. Delicious à la carte dishes will be available, such as semolina pancakes with pickled green strawberries, grilled swordfish salad Nicoise, and porchetta eggs benedict. All mothers will also get a special gift from Labriola: housemade Italian cookies and a $15 gift certificate for the restaurant; reservations are recommended.

River Roast
Live blues music on the river and a chance to win a pair of pearl earrings? River Roast has a brunch that delivers. Their Blues & Brews Brunch offers a meal for the whole table at $140 for 4 people. The menu includes a whole chicken, cedar planked salmon, Tuscan salami, a heap of sides, and assorted cupcakes for desserts. À la carte dishes will be available as well, and every mother is entered to win pearl earrings from Takohl Design. Brunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and reservations can be made by calling River Roast.

Surprise the top lady in your life with a flower and decadent brunch at Pinstripes. Their classic brunch buffet, including carved prime rib, fresh shrimp, and a bruschetta bar, will be a crowd pleaser no matter how many picky eaters you have in your dining party. Mom can get waffles “her way” at the waffle station or indulge her sweet tooth at the chocolate fountain, and all mothers will be greeted with a flower when they arrive. The buffet is $30 per adult and $15 per child, and reservations can be made on OpenTable.
