Washington, DC New Menu Report: 1/4/17
If the lyrics “Oh, the weather outside is frightful” are playing over and over in your head, you know that bitter temperatures have hit the DMV. Forget about trying to cope; it’s just too cold. Head indoors and assuage your need for comfort by noshing on diner food in Ivy City, throw diets to the wind and order a double patty behemoth burger, splurge on brunch, or go cheap and slurp down $1 clam chowder. That’s what’s fit to eat this week on D.C.’s menus.
If you are in the mood for good old diner food, consider Ari’s Diner in Ivy City. It just inaugurated dinner hours on Jan. 3, and in addition to Italian signature dishes, popular breakfast-all-day options include Belgian waffles, steak and eggs, eggs Benedict, and other diner classics everyone craves. Try boozy milkshakes, malts, floats, and a selection of Jones Sodas.
Burger, Tap & Shake
Forget about those pesky diet resolutions — at least until February — and head to Burger, Tap & Shake for its Burger, Cocktail, and Milkshake of the Month. January’s features include The Resolution Burger made with two beef patties, two slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion with AP Sauce (a blend of mayo, ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, and chipotle) for just $11. Pair this with the milkshake of the month, which is made with vanilla ice cream and chai tea, or drown your sorrows in Smashing New Year, the Cocktail of the Month. It’s made with bourbon, raspberry preserves, triple sec, orange juice, and club soda for just $8 — this has got to be the best cocktail deal in town — and if you buy it with the Resolution Burger it’s only $5!
The Hay-Adams Hotel
Through the month of January, the historic Hay-Adams Hotel is spicing up its brunch menu with January Jazz at The Hay, which features live jazz performances every Sunday until Jan. 29. From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. indulge in lobster omelettes and mascarpone pancakes paired with Tattinger Champagne or a classic Bloody Mary.
Legal Sea Foods
In honor of National Soup Month, Legal Sea foods is celebrating Chowda Day with delicious cups of its celebrated New England clam chowder for just $1 when you order an entrée on Sunday, Jan. 15. Thick, rich, creamy, and loaded with clam flavor, it’s worth the trip to any of the four DMV locations.
