Mark Zuckerberg Visits Pat's Steaks In Philly, Deems It 'Best Cheesesteak In The Land'

When in Philadelphia, there are a few things you absolutely must do: Go see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, explore Reading Terminal Market, and eat a cheesesteak. Plenty of Philly institutions serve excellent cheesesteaks (you can find our ranking here), but two are far and away the most famous ones of all: Pat's and Geno's, which face each other on the triangular corners of South Ninth Street and East Passyunk Avenue. The feud over which one is superior has been raging for decades, but none other than Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg added some fuel to the fire when he visited Pat's over the weekend and posted about it on — of course — Facebook.

"Traveled all the way to Philadelphia for the best cheesesteak in the land," Zuckerberg posted, along with a photo of him at the stand's walk-up window.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Zuckerberg rolled up to Pat's, which invented the cheesesteak more than 80 years ago, in a limousine late Saturday night, and told night manager Mikey Boninfante that he was there on business and was trying to try all the best cheesesteaks while in town. He ordered six cheesesteaks "Whiz wit" (with Cheese Whiz and onions), paid cash, and after he and his entourage finished eating, he returned to the window and shook hands with all the employees.

No word on whether Zuck also went across the street and sampled the offerings from rival Geno's. You can find America's 15 best cheesesteaks — both inside and outside of Philly — here.
