Kansas City is Ready to Host the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America Dinner Sept. 30

Chefs Gavin Kaysen and Coby Garrelts will be crafting the indulgent menu for the night

The James Beard Foundation continues its fourth annual Taste America tour on Sept. 30 in Kansas City. The foundation is traveling to 10 cities across the country to host one-of-a-kind fundraising dinners highlighting local cuisine and headlined by a visiting all-star chef and local star chef, as well as cooking demos, artisanal tastings, and book signings.



The exclusive dinner benefiting the James Beard Foundation will take place at Hilton President-Kansas City with the cocktail and tasting reception beginning at 6 p.m. Dinner begins at 7:30 p.m. and will feature a menu crafted by all-star chef and James Beard Award winner Gavin Kaysen of Spoon and Stable, local star chef and James Beard Award winner Colby Garrelts of Bluestem; pastry chef Nick Wesemann of The American Restaurant; and the host chef Alejandro Diaz of Hyatt Regency. The night will be emceed by both Tanna Guthrie, CEO of Tanna Guthrie Auctions, and Lindsay Shivley of NBC Kansas City.

The reception will feature tastings from the Michael Corvino of Corvino Supper Club and Tasting Room; James Beard Award winner Debbie Gold; Howard Hanna of The Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange; Renee Kelly of Renee Kelly’s Harvest; James Beard Award winner Michael Smith of Michael Smith Restaurant and Extra Virgin; and Joe West of Stock Hill.
