The Daily Dish: August 20, 2015
Welcome to The Daily Meal’s Daily Dish, where we highlight what’s hot and trending in the world of all things food and drink.
Today’s first course?
Yet another black bun burger is taking Asia by storm, this time inspired by everyone’s favorite caped crusader. The Dark Knight mini wagyu beef burger is available at DC Comics Café in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and China, and features two charcoal-blackened buns emblazoned with the bat signal, slider burger fixins, and shrimp salad.
In health news, you may know that eating spicy foods can lead to a longer life. Well, grab some hot chiles, because they could also be the key to a healthier diet. Researchers at the University of Adelaide recently published a study that says chiles stretch the gastric nerves, simulating the feeling we get when we feel full. If you’re looking to curb your appetite, spicy food may be the way to go.
Jamie Oliver is expanding his restaurant empire to India. The celebrity chef is opening his pizza and Italian concepts in Delhi. The restaurant will serve the same Italian fare as the London locations — fresh pasta, pizzas, and salads — but there will be a broader vegetarian range in India.
You may have heard about the Wheaties Beer being brewed in Minnesota, but it’s not the only cereal-inspired libation out there. Count Chocula Beer will be haunting stores again this Halloween. Black Bottle Brewery in Fort Collins, Colorado, introduced the beer last year, causing a ruckus when they bought out the supply of Count Chocula.
And that’s the daily dish. Stop by tomorrow for another helping.
