Celebrate National Fry Day With These Fancy Fry Creations

July 13th — this Wednesday — is National Fry Day! On this day of indulgence, go a little crazy. Forget your average, plain fries with ketchup. These three places offer a variety of fry styles that you probably have never heard of! So try them on National Fry Day, because if not on this special food holiday, then when?

Desi Galli
Head to Desi Galli for a fresh take on the classic Canadian food, poutine. Known for its Indian street food such as Kathi rolls, chaats, and Chicken Tikka, Desi Galli has created the ultimate street food mash-up: Desi Poutine. These special fries are smothered in tikka masala gravy, shredded Paneer, and finally topped with a dusting of Indian spices. Get these babies at the East Village location on National Fry Day between 1-2 p.m. and 8-9 p.m. for free!

Sticky's Finger Joint
While Sticky's Finger Joint certainly has some of the tastiest chicken fingers around, its fries are bomb too. Head to this lively spot for a variety of addictive fries which include truffle parm fries which are its classic fries tossed in truffle salt topped with grated Parmesan; bacon mac fries loaded with bacon and gooey cheese; spicy cajun fries; the rich pot pie fries tossed in grandma's gravy, topped with shredded carrots and shallots; and for those looking for something sweet, try out the s'mores fries, which are tossed in s'more sauce, topped with crushed graham crackers, and mini marshmallows.

If you're feeling particularly adventurous, go for Sticky's special rainbow fries! This fry creation is topped with a rainbow colored cream cheese frosting, Fruity Pebbles, and rainbow sprinkles. It's basically everything I love — how can you go wrong with rainbow sprinkled fries? More importantly, a portion of proceeds from rainbow fries will benefit New York City's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community center.

Callahan's
Those of you who live in New Jersey know that Callahan's is known for its hot dogs, but don't overlook its variety of crazy loaded fries. On National Fry Day, Callahan's is giving away free buffalo bacon blue cheese fries to the first 50 people who order. In addition to this indulgent style, also offered are bbq pulled pork and cheddar fries with homemade bbq pulled pork marinated 48 hours; chili fries with a house-made spicy chili; broad street disco fries with house-made brown gravy and mozzarella cheese; frank n' fries with pieces of its signature dogs; freight train fries with ghost pepper cheese; and the cinnabun toast crunch — sweet potato fries tossed in cinnamon and brown sugar, and drizzled with warm vanilla icing.
