Battle Of The Burger Is Back In Boston
Boston Magazine's highly anticipated Battle of the Burger is back this week! Now in its fourth year, ticket holders can gorge on the best burgers from all over Greater Boston on Wednesday August 12 at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in the Seaport.
From the VIP kick off at 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., you can sample slider-sized burgers from 30 burger masters. Each will be entered in the ultimate burger showdown against last year's returning champion, chef Matt O'Neil of The Blue Ox in Lynn, Massachusetts. His Sin Burger—comprising USDA Prime beef, apple wood smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, truffle aioli, lettuce, tomato, and served with a spicy Maitland Mountain Far pickle—sets the bar very high.
Other nominated chefs contending for the top prize this year are Paul Malvone from Boston Burger Co. who will serve his creation featuring prosciutto, blue cheese, crushed candied walnuts, and fig jam; chef David Daniels of Met Back Bay will present his version made with wagyu beef, lobster, angry special sauce, bacon, avocado, and lettuce; and of course, what burger competition could not include chef Mark Rosati, of Shake Shack?
Vegetarian patties will also be available, most notably, chef Avi Shemtov of the Chubby Chickpea food truck will showdown with a chickpea burger on challah with tomato jam, mustard greens, butter pickles, and garlic mayo.
Tickets are on sale and going fast at this event approaches. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Greater Boston Food Bank and Family Reach, so you really don't have to feel badly about eating all those burgers — it's for a great cause!
