Danny Meyer Is Not Taking Over London's Claridge's

The rumor that New York restaurateur Danny Meyer would be taking over at Claridge's in London remains just that, a rumor.

The Daily Meal contacted Meyer, the man behind New York City's The Modern, Shake Shack, and Gramercy Tavern.

"[The] rumor is false. We are flattered, but it is not true," said Jee Won Park, director of communication for Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group.

Hot Dinners, a London restaurant review website, reported that Meyer was to take over from Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's, the luxury hotel in Mayfair, when Gordon Ramsay Holdings' contract comes to an end this year. The Art Deco hotel includes Claridge's Bar, Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's, and Claridge's Reading Room.
