Apple Cider Vinegar Is As Good For Your Dog As It Is For You

Apple cider vinegar has been a popular choice among the health food community for quite some time, but could the benefits of this magic liquid extend to your furry, four-legged friends?

Raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar (or ACV) is one of the oldest remedies on the planet and has been known to assist with everything from lowering blood sugar levels to curbing sugar cravings. Even Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, used ACV mixed with honey to cure chronic sore throats and coughs.

In order to make vinegar, yeast is added to fruit juice (apple, in this case) which turns the sugar into alcohol — this process is also known as fermentation. Bacteria then turn the alcohol into acetic acid, which is the sour taste we know as vinegar.

If you aren't yet convinced to give this ancient potion a try, consider this: Not only is this miracle cure good for you, it's equally beneficial for your dog!

If you've ever had a dog suffer from a skin rash, digestive issues, or an ear ache, you know you'll try anything to help your pet, but veterinary care can get quite expensive. A good solution would be to make a 50/50 solution of apple cider vinegar and water in a spray bottle, and use it on the affected area (just make sure you don't apply it to open wounds). You can also add it to their food to provide some of the same nutritional benefits apple cider vinegar can bring to humans.
