Where To Eat In D.C. For Labor Day Weekend

It's that time of year again. Outdoor pools are finally open, it looks like we'll have three days of great weather, and the District is bursting with fun things to eat, drink, and do. 

Depending on your mood you can nosh Eastern Europe mezze or brunch fare, pig out at a Hawaiin pig roast, or slup some oysters. Just remember to make reservations; you know how obsessed Washingtonians are about brunch and long weekend eating adventures.

Ambars' Memorial Weekend Brunches

Date and Time: May 26 to May 28, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, D.C., 10 AM to 3:30 PM; Clarendon, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Details: D.C. diners know THE place to go for Balkan food is Ambar, on Capitol Hill and in Clarendon, Virginia. Both locations are serving traditional dishes and American classics this weekend for their unlimited brunch menus. In both locations, the menu is all-you-can-eat for a fixed price as long as everyone at the table orders the package deal, which also includes bottomless brunch cocktails. At the D.C. Ambar the unlimited brunch menu is $39 per person and at Ambar in Clarendon the menu is available for $34 per person.

City Tap House Penn Quarter's 4th Annual Memorial Day Shuckfest

Date and Time: Monday, May 28, 11 AM TO 4 PM

Details: Every year, City Tap House Penn Quarter hosts an amazing oyster fest—and it's one of the best deals in town for oysters—hands down. If you can slurp down raw oysters by the dozen check out the $1 raw oysters (when you buy a dozen), pig out on Louisiana fried oysters for $15, and nosh $14 Po'Boys. No oyster fest would be complete without great drinks so check out the $8 frosés and Union Craft Brewing's mini tap takeover.

City Tap House Dupont Hosts First Pig Roast Tiki Party with Kona Brewing

Date and Time: Monday, May 28, 11 AM TO 4 PM

Details: Why should the folks in Penn Quarter have all the fun, right? This year, for the first time, City Tap House Dupont is throwing a Memorial Day roast and channeling tropical atmosphere with sand and fake palm trees on the patio. Pig out on platters of roasted pork, Hawaiian coleslaw, pineapple salsa, and potato salad for $15 bucks. Thirsty? Cool down with Kona beer and frozen piña coladas for $8.

District Winery Celebrates National Wine Day

Date and Time: Friday, May 25 noon to 9 PM

Details: Kill two birds with one stone and make the National Wine Day festivities at District Winery (D.C.'s first urban winery) part of your weekend plans. It is hosting a special tasting at its tasting bar. District Winery sources grapes from premium growers from around the country and then crafts top quality wines that appeal to a wide range of palates.

Ocean Prime Launches New Summer Promotion: Stop and Sip the Rosé

Date: Friday, May 25

Details: Ocean Prime is known for its ample portions of exceptional seafood and what better way to celebrate National Wine Day than with their wine program called Stop and Sip the Rosé. Beginning this Friday, and every Friday all summer long, you can order special selections of still, sparkling, domestic, and French rosé wines that include Miner Rosé $17/glass or $68/bottle; Chandon Rosé $13/glass or $58/bottle; Veuve Clicquot Rosé for $28/glass or $126/bottle; Notorious Pink Rosé for $11/glass or $44/bottle. Fridays, only during happy hour (4:30 to 6:30 PM) Veuve Clicquot Rosé will be half-price $14 per glass.
