Celebrate Movember And National Doughnut Day In Chicago

The Waldorf Astoria Chicago is celebrating Movember and National Doughnut Day with a signature cocktail and special doughnut.

The Movember Foundation is the only moustache-growing charity that supports men's health research programs, by raising awareness and funds for men's health — specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. They believe "every man should maintain a healthy lifestyle, a good diet and take action early when they experience a health issue." During November, men paricipating in Movember's initiative stop shaving their beard in order to raise awareness and money for the good cause. Last year Movember had 1.1 million participants and raised $147 million world-wide, according to a press release.

During the month of November, the Waldorf Astoria Chicago's bar, Bernard's will be serving a signature cocktail, Whiskey and Whiskers. The $16 drink is a blend of citrus, whiskey, and egg white, topped with a moustache-design. 20% of the profits for each sold drink will also go to the Movember Foundation.

Also in November is National Doughnut Day. On the 5th of November, at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago's bistro, Balsan will be offering their special doughnut, the Youghnut Parfait. Executive Pastry Chef, Andrew Johnson came up with this doughnut creation from the traditional yogurt & granola parfait breakfast. The Youghnut ($7) is filled with a house-made raspberry jam, and topped with yogurt butter cream and granola."
