Cherry On My Sundae
It’s always so hard to decide what to have for breakfast. Do you keep things simple with a delicious strawberry banana smoothie, or do you go big with waffles, whipped cream, and syrup? Breakfast sandwiches are a happy medium — they can be savory or sweet, humble or decadent. One of our favorites? A toasted sandwich with raspberry jam and cream cheese. There are so many possibilities for breakfast sandwiches that we’re making it this week’s SWAT (Sharing With A Theme).
We asked The Daily Meal’s Culinary Content Network members to share their best breakfast sandwich recipes and the results will make you want to have breakfast for all three meals. Have a French toast sandwich for breakfast, a savory sandwich with bacon and eggs for lunch, and for dessert, make one with Nutella and bananas. Breakfast sandwiches are perfect for any hour of the day. Here are this week’s highlights.
Cream Cheese and Jam
Spread cream cheese on the bottom half of the muffin, top with a little dollop of jam, and put it into the bottom part of the sandwich maker. Put the top of the muffin in the top part of the sandwich maker. You’ll have a delicious and sweet breakfast sandwich in under five minutes. Not everyone loves savory breakfasts, and Donna Currie of Cookistry kept this in mind while inventing this cream cheese and jam breakfast sandwich.
Open-Faced Scrambled Egg Sandwich with Spinach and Feta
For this week’s SWAT, I made an open-faced scrambled egg sandwich with spinach and feta. It’s perfect for the weekend: Just soft-scramble eggs with spinach and tomatoes, then top with feta. You’ll want to make it again and again.
Green Eggs and Bacon Waffle Sandwich
Christine Ma, who blogs at Cherry on My Sundae, made all of our breakfast dreams come true. You’d be lying if you said you’ve never wanted to try green eggs and ham. Now, here’s your chance. Waffles are excellent with a dollop of butter and some syrup, but turning them into a green eggs and ham sandwich by adding a fried egg with pesto and Canadian bacon is even better! The cuteness and creativity is unparalleled, and that’s what makes this recipe the winner of this week’s SWAT.
