Burger King Breakfast Sandwiches Are Miles More Delicious With This Sauce

McDonald's may have the iconic egg McMuffin, but it's Burger King that dreamed up creative items like the Croissan'wich. Featuring eggs, cheese, and your choice of protein stuffed into a flaky croissant, this filling munchie is scrumptious as-is. However, if you want to make your Burger King breakfast sandwich miles more delicious, you need to slather over some picante sauce to lend it some fruity spice and zesty tang.

The picante sauce is normally served as a side with Burger King's Egg-Normous burrito, which features a creamy and spicy spread that's layered inside the tortilla with eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and cheddar cheese. Branded as Salsa del Sol picante sauce (a product of Kraft Heinz) and served in 14-gram sachets, the ingredients list includes tomato puree, vinegar, jalapeño peppers, spices, and aromatics like garlic and onion powder.

Spicy and tangy, the picante sauce can elevate any Burger King breakfast sandwich, from the Fully Loaded breakfast biscuit to any variety of Croissan'wich, lending them piquant character and zest. However, we'd recommend adding it to the sausage, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich, which was the winner in our ranking of every Burger King menu item. No matter which item you select, the sauce will also imbue your sammie with a touch more moisture and bring all the other flavors of the sandwich together. Simply ask the server for a sachet of the sauce when you place your order.

Burger King won't add the picante sauce to your breakfast sammie

According to a post on Reddit, Burger King staff will give you a sachet of picante sauce when asked, but they won't be able to put it inside your breakfast sammie while it's being assembled because it's a fiddly job that can also cause cross contamination. One Redditor who works at Burger King said, "... the picante salsa slaps. But just put it on yourself. Pull past the window after you get your food and open them up and put them on. It's really hard to open those packets with gloves on and we can't use our bare hands or our teeth unless it's for our own burrito, obviously."

If you're a die-hard fan of the picante sauce, you can purchase it on Amazon so you always have a stash in your glove compartment — but the catch is that it's sold in boxes of 200. Meanwhile, another one of the spicy fast food sauce options you can get at Burger King is the zesty sauce. Made with distilled vinegar and spices, the heat in this sauce comes from prepared horseradish, which gives it a wasabi-like flavor. You can also take your Burger King breakfast sandwich to the next level by stuffing it with hash browns or French toast sticks that provide contrast against your spicy sauce of choice.
