The State With The Most Chick-Fil-A Locations In The US Isn't Georgia Or Florida
Chick-fil-A has come a long way since 1967, when the first tiny 384-square-foot restaurant opened at the Greenbriar Mall in Atlanta. The restaurant, beloved for its pressure-cooked chicken, biscuits, and waffle fries, grew into a nationwide chain with 3,480 locations as of September 2026. It would make sense for Georgia, its home state, to have the most locations, but everything is bigger in Texas, including the number of Chick-fil-A restaurants.
Texans don't have to go very far to find a chicken sandwich, as there is a restaurant for every 59,830 residents. There are 530 Chick-fil-A locations in the Lone Star State, accounting for 15% of the chain's total footprint across the country. Florida is the runner-up, with 290 locations, which is half as many as Texas. Just 14 locations shy of Florida, the birthplace of the chicken-sandwich chain, ranks third with 276 locations, or roughly one restaurant for every 41,000 Georgians.
Chick-fil-A is still growing its Texas footprint
Chick-fil-A is a rapidly growing chain. It continues to invest in its presence in Texas by frequently opening new locations and expanding its supply network. In 2025, 36 new restaurants opened in the state, more than anywhere else, while the Dallas-Fort Worth area has nine new locations set to open in 2026. The company also expects to open a $50 million distribution center in Lubbock in 2027, contributing to serving nearly 350 restaurants across Texas.
Beyond Texas, Florida and Georgia, the fast-food chain has a sizeable presence across the country. California has 223 Chick-fil-A locations, North Carolina has 203, and Virginia has 150. Alaska and Vermont are the only two states with no Chick-fil-A locations, so chicken sandwich fans are unfortunately out of luck.
