Halloween is right around the corner, and now that we're getting into the spooky season, you might be looking for some spooktacular Halloween recipes to try out for your next get-together. But if cooking isn't exactly your forte and you still want to get into the holiday spirit, don't worry; there are some devilishly simple food preparation options available as well — for example, how about these Reese's spiders?

This is a super simple, fun food crafting project that even beginners should be capable of accomplishing. You will need Reese's peanut butter pumpkins, chocolate chips, and some large pretzel twists. To make the spiders more expressive, you'll want to add in some edible candy eyes as well. Place the pumpkins onto a lined baking sheet, break off some equal-length pretzel sections to serve as the spider's "legs," and attach them to the pumpkin "body" using the melted chocolate chips. Add the eyes as well, let them cool, and that's it! You've got some super cute Halloween goodies with a sweet and salty mix, no oven or stovetop needed (just the microwave for melting the chocolate).

If you want to vary the creepy crawly creatures you're creating, you might consider throwing some bats into the mix as well. While pretzel twists can make great spider legs, some halved Oreo cookies can double as bat wings, allowing you to add to your spooky and delicious menagerie.

Reese's spider variations

Reese's pumpkins may be one of the major pumpkin candies to try during spooky season, but there are some other arachnid-focused Halloween treats that use a regular peanut butter cup instead. One popular option is a cookie with a spider on top, and while this is more ambitious than the Reese's spider discussed above, the extra effort can yield some great results.

One Reddit user shared her handiwork, using classic peanut butter cups as the spider body and chocolate icing for the legs. A commenter in the same thread declared them "really creative!" and noted that these cookies are "like peanut butter blossoms, but [with] Reese's instead of Hershey's kisses!" Another user shared a chocolate chip cookie version they were "pretty proud" of that elicited a strong positive reaction as well, with one user noting: "These are absolutely adorable and sound delicious! Excellent job. I'd be thrilled to see a plate of these at a party."

Hopefully these spiders can be a creative jumping-off point! With the basic formula of a peanut butter chocolate body, candy eyes, and some spindly legs, edible arachnids can be a cute and creepy addition to any spooky baked goods you can imagine.
