This Rare Festive Pyrex Dish Is A Thrifter's Dream Valued At Over $1000

Some of the best holiday surprises aren't always wrapped in shiny paper adorned with bows and ribbons. They can be tucked away in a kitchen cabinet or hiding unsuspectingly on a dusty thrift store shelf. And while there are many rare Pyrex patterns to look for at thrift stores, one festive piece is so rare and elusive it's become one of the most coveted holiday treasures in the Pyrex world — and at a price that will have you saving up all year long. The cookware brand's Merry Christmas Cinderella Bowl was a holiday gift Corning Glass Works (the company that made Pyrex) employees received sometime between the mid-1960s and early '70s. An eBay seller of the cheery bowl revealed that their parents worked at the Charleroi, Pennsylvania, Pyrex plant where the gift was distributed.

The two-quart holiday bowl is bright green, with the words "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" printed in red cursive on one side, along with a red ribbon with white holly leaves on the other. Avid Pyrex collectors search high and low for this special item since it was never released to the public. One sold on eBay for just over $1,200, and another for a whopping $1,400. "On my Grail list. My gosh it's full of festive spirit," said a collector in a Pyrex Reddit community. At the time of writing, there's one for sale on eBay for $650. After combing through a significant amount of listings, it appears the cheapest the bowl has sold for online has been around $250, although this particular piece appeared to be weathered and flawed.

Despite the holiday bowl being as green, elusive, and tricky as The Grinch himself, some lucky thrifters have managed to track it down. "They are out there! I picked this up as a bday gift for my wife for under $200 7 years ago, right before their price skyrocketed," said one Reddit commenter about their lucky find. Other avid collectors have scored them at estate sales or antique stores near the Charleroi plant.

The Cinderella Merry Christmas Bowl isn't the only holiday gift employees received. Around the same time, Charleroi plant employees were also gifted a green bowl with orange holly and a white Cinderella bowl with red ribbon and light green holly, both of which are also very rare. The company also gave out a white "Merry Christmas" casserole dish with a red ribbon and dark green holly.

Corning produced other employee gifts that, today, are considered high-demand vintage Pyrex treasures. At a holiday party in 1963, Charleroi employees received a white coffee mug with a red snowman holding a candy cane. A year later – at the Greencastle, Pennsylvania, plant — the company gave out white mugs and bowls with red dancing Santas, candles, bells, and snowmen. One of these mugs sold for $160 on eBay in 2026. In 1965, the company also gave away a commemorative red-and-white plate with holly and a snowman. If you're determined enough, you might find these rare gems that were never offered to the public, like this red-and-green "Season's Greetings" bowl that one thrifter snagged for $5. If you pick one up at a thrift store, make sure to authenticate your vintage Pyrex find.
