2014 New York City Wine & Food Festival

The red carpets are being rolled out, the banners are being unfurled, and New York City is throwing itself headlong into its biggest food blowout of the year: The Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival Presented by Food & Wine.

The world's best chefs, winemakers, spirits producers, and culinary personalities are in town, ready to educate, entertain, and most importantly, feed the eager public. More than 100 events are set to take place in dozens of locations, including two piers overlooking the Hudson River.

From epic walk-around tastings like the Chicken Coupe, Meatopia, and the legendary Burger Bash to intimate dinners, seminars, brunches, demos, and classes, there's really something for everyone at NYCWFF. Tickets for most of the events sell out quickly, but if you weren't able to secure yours, don't despair! THURSDAY, October 16th

7:00 p.m.  Adam Richman and Bon Jovi hosted the La Sagra Slices kick-off event, where dozens of New York City's best pizza and meatball chefs showed off their creations at this rockin' event. 7:00 p.m. Michael Chiarello, Jean-Paul Bourgeois, and several other all-star chefs who make up the Delta culinary team came together at the Delta presents Food with Altitude event. Click here to see where each chef and master sommelier Andrea Robinson would love the chance to dine at if given a plane ticket tomorrow.

10:30 p.m. The Chicken Coupe has come and gone, and of the more than 20 expertly-prepared fried chicken dishes on offer it was Queens Comfort's Captain Crunch chicken fingers that were host Whoopi Goldberg's favorite. Click here for the full recap, plus quotes from the chefs.

FRIDAY, October 17th

11:30 a.m. How has the relationship between the food industry and the food media industry changed as journalism has become increasingly digital and the speed of sharing information has grown exponentially? Legendary New York Times restaurant critic Mimi Sheraton, The New York Post's Steve Cuozzo, and The Daily Meal's executive editor Arthur Bovino were among the panelists who weighed in on the "then and now" of food writing.

7:00 p.m. The best of New York City BBQ was celebrated at Thrillist's Barbecue and the Blues, where guests mingled with the cast of Food Network's The Kitchen, and sampled smoked meats, ribs, wings and more. 11 p.m. The Blue Moon Burger Bash has come and gone, and perennial champion Josh Capon, who has taken the win for the past two years, took the People's Choice prize, with Marc Murphy winning the Judge's Choice. Capon served his famous Bash Burger, topped with caramelized onions and bacon jam, shaved pickles, American cheese, and secret sauce on a Martin's potato roll. Murphy served his "Lamb-Mark," a spiced lamb burger with mint chimichurri, also on a Martin's potato roll. Click here for more, including remarks from Murphy.

SATURDAY, October 18th

12 p.m. At the Jets + Chefs: The Ultimate Tailgate event, Mario Batali shares what position he'd play on a football team and which food city he'd love to visit while Joe Namath talks about what his meal of choice was before he played a game.

12 p.m. Gotham Bar and Grill hosted a decadent "Claws and Cru" brunch, pairing seasonally-focused lobster entrees from chef Alfred Portale with the perfect Champagnes.

4:00 p.m. Late Saturday night, after the New York City WIne & Food Festival's Burger Bash, some of the country's leading culinary stars came to the Plaza Hotel to usher in a new era for the fabled Palm Court: chef Geoffrey Zakarian unveiled, for the first time, its beautiful new redesign. SUNDAY, October 19th

12 p.m. For Grammy nominated singer and two time New York Times Best Selling author Trisha Yearwood, writing her cookbook with Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood was always more than just creating a collection of recipes. At the New York Wine and Food Festival, she shared with us how tt was more about preserving a lifetime of memories with her mother and sister...

2 p.m. Buddakan's massive, two-story interior was home on Sunday to Dale's Dim Sum Party, a hip and collaborative interpretation of the Chinese brunch staple.

7 p.m. Meat, meat, and more meat! Carnivores came out in droves on Sunday for the 10th annual Meatopia, hailed as the "Carnivore's Ball," presented by Creekstone Farms and hosted by chef Michael Symon. More than 35 of the country's leading chefs showed off their skills at turning whole hogs, lambs, goats, and an entire steer into delicious dishes, and the event was a smashing success.
