Mario Batali On His Football Career And Dream Food City

This past Saturday, October 18, was the Food Network New York City Wine and Food Festival's Jets + Chefs: The Ultimate Tailgate event on Esurance rooftop hosted by Mario Batali and Joe Namath.

Namath spilled the beans on his meal of choice come game day during his years as a Jets superstar while Batali shared his all-star tips to make for the perfect tailgate, like doing as much preparation beforehand as possible.

And though Batali may be a legend in the kitchen, that isn't to say he doesn't see a spot for himself on a football team. What position would be play?

"I'd be the waterboy," Batali joked. "And I could guarantee that if I were the water boy, no one would go thirsty!"

The Daily Meal caught up with Batali to ask him which food city he's not yet been to that he'd love the chance to travel to.

"Mumbai," he said without hesitation. "It's a place and a food I know the least about, and Mumbai is just an absolute melting pot."
