You Tell Us: What Food Defines America To You?
This October, The Daily Meal's editorial director, Colman Andrews, will be releasing his new book, The Taste of America. The book serves as an anthology of edible Americana; a compendium of the best food made in the USA — from Alabama to Wisconsin and everywhere in between. The book is a celebration of 250 of the most exceptional and delicious food products, from the best fresh ingredients and artisanal products to regional delicacies and multi-national brands.
Leading up to the book's launch, The Daily Meal and Phaidon Press are celebrating these iconic tastes by giving away 10 copies of the book, signed by Colman Andrews himself. To enter, all you have to do is follow these three simple steps:
1. Download the Instagram app to your smartphone. If you already have it — congratulations! — this just got even easier.
2. Record an Instagram video answering this question: What food defines America to you? This can be anything from a brand-name product, such as a pack of Skittles, to your grandma's famous blueberry cobbler.
3. Use the hashtag #MyTasteAmerica. This is very important — without the hashtag, we'll have no way to track your stupendous submission!
Check out some examples on The Daily Meal's Instagram page from staff, friends, and even pedestrians who have already shared what unique tastes define their America. Once you post the video to Instagram, using the hashtag #MyTasteAmerica, you are instantly eligible to receive an autographed copy of The Taste of America by Colman Andrews.
The contest ends Oct. 11, and the winners will be announced the following Monday, Oct. 14. So help us give America, and the flavors that define it, a great big hoorah this fall!
