Wellfleet OysterFest Now Selling Tickets Online
Wellfleet OysterFest is returning to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, for the weekend of Oct. 19-20, and tickets are now sold online. The arrangers of the festival, non-profit organization Wellfleet Shellfish Promotion and Tasting (SPAT), recommends that visitors buy their tickets in advance, making for a smooth access on the day of the event.
"Purchase tickets in advance and get into the 'Fest fast," SPAT Manager Michele Insley said in a recent press release. "Having your pre-printed ticket ready for scanning at the gate will allow you easy access to start enjoying all of the music, crafts and events the 'Fest has to offer."
For the 12 years that the festival has been arranged, this is the first year when there will be a charge for admission. Tickets are available through online purchase for $5 for one day and $8 for two days. Children under 12 years can access the event free of charge.
Attendees will get the opportunity to enjoy food samples and buy items from a long list of food vendors and raw bars. One of the highlights of the festival is the annual oyster shucking competition, where shuckers from the north-east compete for a $1,000 cash price.
For family activities, there will be a "family fun area" with educational activities, crafts, moonbounces, clowns, face paintings, and performances. Oyster reef tours, road races, and a dance party are all also part of the weekend event.
