Weekly Opening Report: The Week Of June 10, 2013

Every week, we take a look into the biggest restaurant opening-related news that developed this week.

San Francisco, Calif.
State Bird Provisions: State Bird Provisions in San Francisco will be closed after August 10 for renovations, and the re-opening yet is to-be-announced. The restaurant's Facebook and Twitter pages will keep people up-to-date on all of the happenings and relevant dates.

Columbus, Ohio
Cameron Mitchel Restaurants: Cameron Mitchel Restaurants out of Columbus, Ohio is introducing two new restaurants that will open next year in celebration of their 20th anniversary. The first concept will be an American grille with steaks, chicken, sandwiches and an over 200-bottle wine list. The second, a steakhouse, will open at Rogers Market, featuring Angus steaks, smoked ribs and chicken, and large sides to share.

New York, NY
Dinosaur BBQ:
A Syracuse, New York classic, Dinosaur BBQ, is set to open in Gowanus, Brooklyn on June 19. The new location will feature some special menu items unique to the Brooklyn spot as well as beer from local breweries.

ZZ's Clam Bar: ZZ's Clam Bar, what was originally supposed to be a lobster sandwich joint, is set to open this weekend on Thompson Street. It will be reservations only and will dish out items like striped-horse-mackerel tartare and some creative cocktails.

Big Smoke Burger: The Canadian-based Big Smoke Burger just announced the location of their New York opening, which will be at 70 Seventh Avenue, near West 15th Street. New York has tons of burger places, yes, but this chain brings along with it real poutine, a Canadian classic that's often done wrong by Americans. The chain plans to open 50 in the U.S. in coming years.

Trattoria Il Mulino: Il Mulino will be expanding and opening a more laidback rendition of the original at 36 East 20th Street called Trattoria Il Mulino. The eats will be more casual like pizza, homemade pastas, and lamb steaks, and it's set to open this July.

9A Kitchen and Lounge: Sports lounge and restaurant in New York, 9A Kitchen and Lounge, is opening in West Harlem on Saturday, June 15. The spot will feature southern comfort foods and a professional sushi bar, and will be fully equipped with a bar serving cocktails and beer on tap, so come check out everything that it has to offer.

South Beach, Miami, Fla.
HaVen: Chef Todd Harrison of HaVen in South Beach is looking to open a new casual taco restaurant, Huahua's. The new place will be a large jump from his original digs, featuring unusual twists like a chicken fried taco with ancho-ranch dressing.

Las Vegas, Nev.
Rx Boiler Room:
Rick Moonen, a Top Chef finalist, is opening a second restaurant at the Shoppes at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Rx Boiler Room. The eatery will feature American comfort food and small plates, as well as fine cocktails made by mixologists.

1842 Pub: Michael Mina's 1842 Pub will be opening at the end of June in Las Vegas, which will have more of a focus on the American style of a pub, unlike most of the other high-end restaurants in the area. Some of the unique bites you can expect to see here are a burger with peanut butter and a lobster corn dog.

Five50 Pizza Bar: Next month, Five50 Pizza Bar will be opening in Las Vegas by chef Shawn McLain at . The restaurant will be half bar, half pizzeria with craft beers and a focus on solid ingredients.

France
Capucin Signe Bras:
French father-and-son chefs Michel and Sebastien Bras will open a fast-casual restaurant in Toulouse, France. The new restaurant's name, Capucin Signe Bras, is a change for the duo, who created the restaurant Bras in Laguiole, France. The signature dish of their new restaurant will be "Le Capucin," a cone-shaped sandwich made with buckwheat bread and an assortment of different fillings.
