Varied, Vintage Theater & Film Choices Brighten The Weekend
It's ironic that one of the best movies choices this weekend is from 1944 and has only one showing at 10:30 am Saturday.
I'm talking about "To Have and Have Not," the movie from 1944 that paired a 19-year-old Lauren Bacall with a 45-year-old Humphrey Bogart and remains today a timeless motion picture that really never seems to age. It's showing on Saturday is at the Hi Pointe theater. Doors open at 10:00 am and the movie begins exactly at 10:30 am. Admission is $5 per person
The Repertory Theater opens its 48th season in St. Louis will the slapdash musical comedy "One Man, Two Guvnors."
Stages has opened a new production of "Fiddler on the Roof," the much-loved and very touching musical that originally bowed on Broadway in 1971.
The Insight Theater Company has launched a solid production of Arthur Miller's landmark drama, "Death of a Salesman." It was last seen here in St. Louis at the Fox Theater starring Brian Dennehy and Elizabeth Franz.
The best date movie this weekend is the newest Woody Allen film, "Magic in the Moonlight" starring Academy Award winner Colin Firth and Emma Stone. Other films I recommend this weekend are "Chef," "Calvary," "Boyhood," and "The Trip to Italy."
For the family, the nondescript "Dolphin Tale 2″ will be enjoyed by most children 12 and under.
This weekend, tune in my live reports on entertainment on KMOX at 7:50 am Saturday and Sunday mornings.
