Ugly Mug Café To Open In West Town, Chicago
Ugly Mug Cafe, the name for the newest coffee shop in Chicago's West Town, will open later this month, reports DNA Info.
The opening comes after a recent trend of coffee shops opening in the area, as it is the fourth coffee shop within a nine-block section of Chicago Avenue.
Owner Mikky Wright has embarked on Chicago ventures such as Alliance Café and Wicker Park Inn, and told DNA Info Chicago, "'I've always felt Chicago deserved a better coffee culture, watching The Wormholes [in Wicker Park] and Cafe Mustaches [in Logan Square] has made me happier more than the Starbucks and Caribous. The coffee culture has slowly matured and I've spent last six months looking for an area that didn't have as much access to coffee,"
The café will get their coffee from Passion House Coffee Roasters, and will also serve breakfast and lunch. Their menu, which they posted on their Facebook, includes classic breakfast items like an egg sandwich as well as more creative items like the "Heaven Sent", which consists of roast beef, aged white cheddar, red onion, arugula, garlic horseradish mayo on a pretzel bun.
In order to honor its namesake, the café has been receiving a number of ugly mugs, and posting the photos online.
