The World's Best Vegetarian Restaurant Set To Close
After recently winning the #1 spot on The Daily Meal's Top 25 Best Vegetarian Restaurants in the World list, Millennium Restaurant in San Francisco announced its plans to close in the spring.
The restaurant posted a status to its Facebook page on Wednesday morning, January 21. "To our dear fans, After more than 20 years in business, and with the end of our lease, we will serve our last meal as Millennium at 580 Geary St on April 30, 2015. We are so grateful to our co-workers, family, farmers & friends who have made the experience of running this restaurant unforgettable."
The restaurant was located in Hotel California, which was recently sold to Pineapple Hospitality, a Seattle company, who will extensive renovation.
"We have been notified that they do not wish to continue to have a restaurant as part of their hotel," the team announced on their Facebook page.
The gourmet spot Millennium, with its sophisticated and creative menu, has long been regarded as a must-visit establishment for any food lover. Millennium boasts seasonal menu options like pistachio-crusted portobello mushrooms or black garlic and sweet soy-glazed tempeh and shaved butternut squash pad Thai. San Francisco Magazine claimed the vegan fare "intrigues even the most devoted carnivores among us."
