Father’s Day is just around the corner (Sunday, June 19th — in case you’ve been slacking), and if you’re lucky enough to be able to spend time with your dad on or around this day, you may be looking for a few ideas for things to do that don't necessarily involve T-bones and martinis (not that there's anything wrong with those).
Your old man might not be the museum type, but that’s probably because the very word makes him think about stuffy, hoity-toity art museums with paintings of flowers and bowls of fruit. However, there’s a whole host of manly museums out there that are incredibly unique, interesting, informative, and enjoyable.
Of course, there are a lot of assumptions and stereotypes at work here. Perhaps your pops is into fine art after all. Perhaps he’s not into cliché dad hobbies or other so-called masculine interests. In fact, maybe the whole idea of “manly” is archaic and sexist. (It’s 2016, people!) But if your family patriarch has some of the traditional “dad” personality traits and qualities, he’ll absolutely enjoy the following nine destinations.
How can we be so sure? It’s mostly because all of this list’s locations are fascinating museums to begin with, regardless of demographics, and Father’s Day is just a good excuse for an awesome outing with Dad.
