Top U.S. Summer Destinations For 2012

ResortsandLodges.com, a resort and lodge destination travel website, has released the top North American travel destinations for summer 2012. The website analyzed search data to determine the most popular travel trends.

The most popular destination is lake vacations like Lake of the Ozarks. The second most popular type of vacation is all-inclusive where food, drinks and activities are included in one price. The most popular destination for all-inclusive food, sun, and fun is the Florida Keys.

"It's definitely interesting to see how travel changes from year to year. In the several years leading up to 2012, we saw most travelers searching by budget related keywords, sometimes sacrificing quality and multiple activities for cheaper prices because of the recession," said Ryan Bailey president of ResortsandLodges.com. "This year, we've definitely seen a shift towards value driven keywords and packaging."

Family trips, beach vacations, and spa getaways round out the list of top five summer trips. Family trips to Myrtle Beach, beach vacations to Panama City Beach, and spa getaways to West Virginia ranked the highest this summer.

Cabin rentals, romantic getaways, and golf trips were also trending trips.
