Popey's, which is open from March through October, has been been around for over four decades serving up dozens of flavors of hard and soft ice cream. These can be enjoyed in one of its many tempting specialty sundaes – particularly the S'Mores Sundae, with ice cream, marshmallow and chocolate syrup in between two layers of graham cracker crumb. A.C. Petersen Farms Restaurant has been a fixture of West Hartford's Park Road for the past 75 years. At least one of the things that has kept it popular for decades is the extensive dessert menu, which now includes nearly two dozen sundaes, all crowned with hand-whipped heavy cream. It's difficult to choose highlights from all of its delectable offerings, but some standouts include the Hot Caramel Apple Pie Sundae (Marilyn's apple pie with vanilla ice cream and hot caramel sauce), Toll House Cookie Pie Sundae (the named pie with vanilla ice cream and gourmet hot fudge) and the Doughboy Sundae (chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, gourmet hot fudge, marshmallow and chunks of cookie dough). The family-owned Ice Cream Shoppe in Shelton is home to some of the tastiest ice cream in southwestern Connecticut, which it makes fresh every day. This Oxford ice cream parlor is always updating its menu with new sundaes.
