What started as a small haunted attraction along Route 5 in Wallingford has turned into one of Connecticut's most popular Halloween attractions. The Trail of Terror is an outdoor haunted attraction made up of volunteers likely to give you a fright. With its popularity, be advised to come early and wait in line. Your alternative option is purchasing a timed ticket online before arriving. This allows you to select a time slot and avoid the long lines. Timed tickets cost $20 per person and the general admission tickets are $15 per person. The Trail of Terror was voted Best Halloween Attraction by Connecticut Magazine from the year 2008 to 2012. Test your nerves by visiting Friday through Sunday on each weekend in October, and November 1st.
The Haunted Graveyard at Lake Compounce

During the Halloween season, Lake Compounce transforms into one of the larger haunted attractions in the state. While it still has rides operating, many folks visit for the thrills inside of the graveyard. Beware, you might cross paths with werewolves, witches, vampires and demons. Walk through themed areas including the cemetery, slaughter house, zombie forest, frightening corn field, dungeon and mansion. The graveyard is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October, plus November 1st. It opens at dusk and stays open late. Ticket price for only the haunted graveyard is $22.99 per adult or $17.99 per child age 11 and younger. Combination tickets for the graveyard and rides are $29.99 per adult and $22.99 per child. There is a $5 military discount for adults interested in the combination tickets.

The Dark Manor is celebrating its 10th season this year. This Halloween favorite has two attractions at one location. Enter inside the two story manor. If you make it out in one piece and are up for the challenge, walk through the outdoor graveyard and haunted village. Parking is free at The Dark Manor. Unlike other haunted houses, The Dark Manor has more dates of operation in the month of October. Tickets are $20 per person to enter both attractions. Tickets can be purchased at the door or save time waiting in line and make your purchase online.

The Only Scream In Town will operate as usual during the day and will be kid friendly. However, come 6:30 p.m., the monsters come out to play. The rides and attractions transform from fun to fear by 7 p.m. Dodge zombies at the "gore cart" go-carts and take a challenge at thriller mini golf. You will want to run through the half-mile wooded trail known as redneck rampage. If you are up for more scares, try to survive the shaking floors in the 3,000 square feet of Abyss Family Manor. This Halloween attraction is more affordable at only $10 per person. It operates early and runs long, from September 27 through November 2.

Halloween is around the corner. Get ready to put your nerves to the test at Nightmare On Wolcott Street in Waterbury. The convenience of this establishment is the warmth of being indoors, creating comfort in rain or shine. It has over 55 rooms full of chilling sounds, chainsaws and live characters waiting to give you a scare, and is open starting October 4 through November 2. Check out this newer attraction every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October, Halloween night during and the first weekend of November. Tickets are purchased at the door.
