On a steamy summer afternoon, there's nothing like a cold shake or smoothie to cool you off. By nighttime, you may still be craving something similar to drink, but this time something more adult, with a little bit of a kick. With that in mind, here are some establishments throughout the state that offer great refreshing frozen cocktails for you to sip on those hot humid evenings.

This New London restaurant and bar, with its gorgeous view of the Thames River, is a popular drinking and dining destination during the summer. It specializes in seafood and pasta dishes, and for frozen drinks, serves classic and strawberry pina coladas. But what you won't be able to resist is the Waterfront Mudslide, a decadent mixture of Godiva chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka, Kahlua and Irish cream that comes complete with whipped cream and a cherry.

Since 1993, this Tex-Mex café has done an expert job at bringing a Southwestern feel to New England. Coyote Blue has received rave reviews for its margaritas, but there are a number of frozen cocktails to choose from as well. The musician's tropical-themed bar and restaurant, located at Mohegan Sun Casino, is a reflection of his laid-back worldview. But you don't have to be a Parrothead to appreciate its satisfying frozen boat drinks. Favorites include the Chocolate Banana Colada with Pinnacle Chocolate Whipped Vodka, Meyers Dark Rum and coconut puree, and Don't Stop the Carnival, a blend of Margaritaville Silver Rum with strawberry, banana and mango puree.
