Top Bars For Singles In Connecticut

If, as the title of the Al Green classic put it, you're "Tired of Being Alone," it's time to do something about it. Connecticut has an abundance of bars where singles can meet and hopefully make a connection. Some of them we told you about in 2012. Here are a few more where you're sure to have a fun time and maybe even find the love of your life.

The Russian Lady
191 Ann Uccello St.
Hartford, CT 06103
(860) 247-5239
www.therussianladyhartford.com

The Russian Lady was a fixture in the capital city for 20 years before closing in 1997. However it was resurrected in 2011 and is bigger and better in its second life. The main bar is on the first floor where you can grab a drink, watch the game and listen to live music. On the second floor, you can enjoy one of 100 kinds of vodka in the Vodka Bar and Lounge, play darts or pool in the Billiards Room or dance to the latest hits. Best of all when the weather is warm you can head to the rooftop patio for drinks and acoustic bands – the perfect atmosphere for a potential romance to bloom.

Anna Liffey's
17 Whitney Ave.
New Haven, CT 06510
(203) 773-1776
www.annaliffeys.com

There's always a good time happening at this New Haven Irish pub. It hosts local music acts several times a week, including blues singer Rocky Lawrence on Mondays and house band the Freshmakers on Thursdays. Every week you can win cash prizes and impress possible love interests with your knowledge on Trivia Tuesday. And Sundays, starting at 4 p.m., let loose on Sunday Funday, which it calls a recess for adults with sports and games ranging from basketball to beer pong.

M White Lounge
2288 Fairfield Ave.
Bridgeport, CT 06605
(203) 275-8999
www.mwhitelounge.com

M White Lounge opened in Bridgeport in 2013 with the goal of creating the look and feel of a hip Manhattan nightspot. You'll definitely feel like you're in New York as you dance, dine or drink at this cool, sleek lounge. M White has different specials for every night of the week. For instance, college students over 21 get half-price drinks and appetizers on Thursday, and Friday is Latin Night. It also serves up a dozen specialty cocktails for you to buy anyone who catches your eye.

McFadden's
261 Main St.
Stamford, CT 06901
(203) 324-4448
www.mcfaddensstamford.com

Located in downtown Stamford, the fun, unassuming McFadden's is the ideal place for the city's singles to gather and unwind. Drop by Thursday and Friday evenings for the After Work Social with one dollar drinks from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It's also the home of some of Stamford's best parties celebrating Halloween and other occasions. DJs spin music Thursday to Saturday night, and if you're fortunate enough to meet someone, the two of you can return Sunday morning for Beats and Brunch with a Bloody Mary bar and bottomless mimosas.

Ted's Bar
16 King Hill Rd.
Storrs Mansfield, CT 06268
(860) 429-9545
www.tedsbar.com

You're bound to run into plenty of young singles at Ted's on the UConn campus. A Storrs fixture for five decades, there's nothing flashy about this bar, just great vibes with live music, trivia, karaoke and a fun staff. It stays open during the summer break and always offers drink specials, including its signature "Bionic Beaver," a concoction made with a variety of liquors. Introduce yourself to a fellow UConn fan and get to know each other while watching the game and sharing some of Ted's pizza, grinders or wings.
