Thief Gets A Surprise After Stealing Two $70 Sandwiches

There are times when you order a meal and what comes out isn't quite what you expected. That's an understatement in this scenario. Police in Nanaimo, British Columbia, are investigating the robbery of two plastic breakfast sandwiches used for display at a local 7-Eleven.

Around 3 a.m. on July 11, police were called after an employee reported that a man had walked off with two breakfast sandwiches. The hungry thief thought he was getting away with a free meal, but he had actually taken two plastic display sandwiches each valued at $70, according to the Nanaimo Daily News.

Once outside, the thief quickly realized his mistake was hard to swallow, literally, and threw one sandwich away. He decided to keep one souvenir sandwich for himself.

Police later caught up with the suspect at a local hotel, where the other sandwich was recovered uneaten and undamaged. The store manager decided not to press charges because the display sandwiches were both returned intact, reported the Nanaimo Daily News.

Maybe this man will think twice about taking his next meal to go.
