Taste Of Chicago Announces "Pop-Ups"
The 2013 lineup for The Taste of Chicago food festival has been released. The event, which will take place from July 10th to July 14th at Grant Park,will feature 35 restaurants, all of which will sell either "tastes" or regular-sized portions of their fare for prices ranging from $2.50 to $7.00.
Participating restaurants include classic Taste attendees including Lou Malnati's, Abbey Pub, Bacinos, and BJ's Market & Bakery. Several restaurants will be making their Taste of Chicago debut, like Bombay Spice Grill & Wine and Flip Crepes.
In addition to the restaurants that will be present for all five days of the festival, there will also be pop up booths, which will feature food from specific restaurants for one or two days.
"The Pop-Up Restaurant feature was introduced at Taste of Chicago last year as a new way to showcase unique neighborhood restaurants and emerging culinary gems," stated the Cultural Affairs and Special Events committee in a June 3rd press release. Restaurants participating in the "Pop-Up" booths include Hearty, Punky's Pizza and Pasta, and Inspiration Kitchen
For the first time ever, the festival will also feature food trucks. Sixteen mobile eateries have applied, and the accepted participants will be announced in mid-June.
