DALLAS (KRLD) – There's a lot happening in North Texas this weekend! Tasha Stevens provides some exciting opportunities for you and your family!
– "Cool Thursdays" at the Dallas Arboretum will feature The Official Blues Brothers Revue, a duo so dead on in their portrayal they are sanctioned by Dan Aykroyd and Judith Belushi. The weekly Costume Contest will be the Favorites of 'SNL' Award. Dress as your favorite Saturday Night Live character to win an overnight stay for two at the Warwick Melrose Hotel.
– Get ready for the State Fair of Texas! "Deep in the Heart of Texans" 2014 starts Friday and runs thru October 19 at Historic Fair Park. Enjoy the best fair food on the planet, carnival rides and games, live music, Wild West Pet Palooza, and Texas Sports Legends.
– After a 4 year break, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are back on the scene. Friday night, you can see the guys at the AAC.
– This weekend, you can check out the Western Days Festival. Old Town Lewisville will be filled with artifacts, and the best of Texas country music Friday and Saturday.
– The Corvette Chevy Expo is set for this weekend at Dallas Market Hall. This indoor Corvette & Chevy Event with feature World Class Chevrolet Show Cars, Car Sales Mart, Food and Sunday Bikini Contest.
– Also at Dallas Market Hall this weekend, the Annual Texas Baby and Kid Expo.
– Grand Prairie will celebrate the annual migration of the monarch butterfly from North America to Central Mexico Saturday, 10 a.m.to 6 p.m. at Central Park. This event is free and will include three Monarch butterfly releases, kite flying, a kid zone with bounce houses and kid's crafts, food, a butterfly costume contest and music.
– There is a Car & Motorcycle Show Saturday at Dallas Harley Davidson in Garland. This Memorial Charity Event honors Badge #174 of the Garland Police Dept. Proceeds benefit C.O.P.S. Texas – Concerns of Police Survivors Metroplex TX Chapter.
– Pantegofest is this weekend! There really is something for everyone at this event. There will be a Saturday morning 1-mile fun run and 5k road race, Arts & Craft displays, food trucks, beer, and live music from a ton of bands including Beatles tribute Me and My Monkey, Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute Texas Flood and Journey tribute Escape.
– Coming up this Sunday, The AT&T Performing Arts Center and the Dallas Film Society will kick off their 3rd year of Sunset Screenings at Annette Strauss Square in the Dallas Arts District. This year's free outdoor movie screenings will feature three award-winning films from definitive directors of the '80s: "Good Morning, Vietnam" directed by Barry Levinson on September 28..."The Shining" directed by Stanley Kubrick on October 26...and "Raging Bull "directed by Martin Scorsese on November 23. All the screenings are on Sunday nights at 8:30 p.m.
– There are a bunch of haunted house out there so don't get them confused. This is not Fred's Haunted House. This is Dan's Haunted House in Lake Dallas and you experience this different twist on the haunted house this weekend. See, Dan is putting a different twist on the typical Haunted House .No Zombies, Clowns, or Chainsaws. But, here will be Samurai, Ghosts, Spirits, and Demons from Japanese Culture.
