Sunglasses And Rooftops At W San Diego For Summer Solstice
The longest day of the year, June 21, should be spent enjoying the sunshine.
Cleverly, W San Diego combined the need for sunglasses on such a long day with its new rooftop spot.
"In partnership with local luxury sunglass designer RAEN optics, W San Diego is celebrating the longest day of the year by outfitting guests with some new shades to protect against the longer days and sun," said Diana Rapp, a spokesperson for W San Diego.
The weekend will feature a pop-up designer show on June 23 that will have exclusive discounts on RAEN optics. There will also be drink specials, such as $7 twisted mimosas and Bloody Mary's, and music from DJ Joey Figueroa.
Appetizing bites including heirloom tomato gazpacho, barbecue chicken flatbread, bite-sized sliders, compressed watermelon with blue cheese crumbles, balsamic, and cilantro will be available at the Rooftop Bar.
"With cityscape views, cabanas, and a live DJ, the W's Rooftop is the perfect place to celebrate Summer Solstice," Rapp said.
W San Diego recently renovated its Rooftop Bar. It now features wood floors (which used to be sand), as well as a bold bonfire theme throughout with a sculpture of stacked beach chairs as the focal point.
"June of last year, W San Diego underwent a $5 million renovation to include a newly imagined Living Room, signature restaurant, a re-energized Rooftop Bar, and new meeting and event spaces," Rapp said.
As for the rest of the summer, W San Diego is extending the special package through September 1, so you can get a free pair of RAEN Squire sunglasses even after the solstice weekend. The details of the package, including rates, are available online, and booking opens June 1.
"W San Diego is a great destination for those who want to escape the Gaslamp party crowd and rejoice in a more upscale and contemporary vibe," Rapp said.
