Ah 2014, the only time in history when you can probably watch someone twerk while simultaneously taking a selfie and drinking a pumpkin spice latte. Now that's skill.
No matter how undeniably awesome watching the above scenario would be, we bet that sometimes you wish you could just take a little vacation to a different time period. You know, just so you could see what it was like. Well now you can go back in time to the era of prohibition and speakeasies, all without leaving L.A. or inventing a time machine.

Butchers and Barbers– the latest project from the renowned Houston Brothers who also brought you Dirty Laundry, No Vacancy and Good Times at Davey Wayne's– has finally opened its doors. This new Bowery-style inspired steak and shave salon will truly transport you back in time to a butcher-barber combo store right out of the 1920's, with lights that hang from meat hooks, old school barber chairs, and even classic barbicide jars.

Unfortunately, you cannot actually get your haircut here, so asking your waiter for a little off the top will probably just get you a blank stare in return. However, despite the lack of a good shampoo, you can definitely get some quality meat here, like the fantastic Cote de Boeuf (that's fancy talk for beef rib), tasty charcuterie and some delectable house cured meats. Not only is there amazing food, but there's also top-flight wine, draft beer and some spectacular specialty cocktails that you can either get in a glass for yourself or in a barrel big enough to share with four friends (or you can just drink the barrel yourself, we won't tell).
So go ahead and take a little staycation to the roaring 20's, your stomach will thank you.
