International Culinary Congress to Offer Food Carts

This 7th annual event will be celebrated with alternating sweet and savory pop-ups and food carts

ICC in 2010 is putting on its seventh annual International Culinary Congress (ICC) at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City this Sept. 30 through Oct. 2.

ICC is a three-day event showcasing culinary expertise from around the world. Chefs, pastry chefs, sommeliers, and mixologists gather to present their newest techniques and concepts.

The theme for this year’s event is "Origins and Frontiers: The Archaeology of Modern Cuisine." Attendants will be able to participate in main-stage demonstrations; hands-on workshops in savory, pastry, and mixology; business discussions; wine tastings; and expert panels on current topics in the industry.

This year, the event is adding something extra-special: sweet and savory pop-ups and food carts. The "Eat @ ICC" exhibition will feature prominent New York City restaurants, as well as a few others around the country.

Among those participating in the "Food Cart Fl(eat)" are Pok Pok Ny, The Meatball Shop, and Junoon (all from New York City). Wit and Wisdom in Baltimore, Yardbird in Miami, and Aziza in San Francisco will also be involved.

One of the savory pop-ups will be Red Medicine in Los Angeles, and a pastry pop-up is Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York.
