Starbucks Barista Dashes Customer’s Beyoncé Dreams

A Starbucks customer said her name was Beyoncé, but the barista didn’t buy it

A woman told a Starbucks barista that her name was Beyoncé, and the barista responded with a pretty sharp burn.

When a Starbucks barista asks for one’s name, it can be tempting to just make something up. Most of the time, the barista will just happily write “Cordelia” or “Merry Christmas” or whatever else a person says. This week, however, one customer attempted to prank her barista by claiming her name was Beyoncé, and she got a savage burn in response.

Twitter user Jen Nubian says she walked into her Starbucks this week and told the barista her name was Beyoncé, “just to be funny.”

But then Nubian picked up her beverage and instead of a cup with Beyoncé’s name on it, she got a vanilla latte that said, “U. Wish.” Ouch!

Even with her Beyoncé dreams crushed, Nubian seems able to have a sense of humor about it, though. Rather than hide the evidence of her failure to be Beyoncé, she posted a video of her cup to Twitter, where it’s been liked more than a thousand times.

Just to rub salt in the wound, though, other Starbucks customers have gotten their “Beyoncé” cups, and several have been sharing the photos of their cups with Nubian. Now that has to hurt.
