Top Chef contestant Stefan Richter Holds Anniversary Dinners

Top Chef contestant and Stefan's at LA Farm owner Stefan Richter will be holding three-course prix-fixe menu dinners to celebrate his 15th anniversary in America.  On April 9 and 10, diners can enjoy gravlax with salmon in a dill mustard sauce, smoked potato soup and german sausage with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes in a beer sauce for $15.  Seatings are available from 5:30 to 10 p.m.  Call 310.449.4000 for reservations.

Chef Suzanne Tracht and Jar Host Guest Chef Dinner to Honor  65th Anniversary of Israel's Independence Day

On April 13, Jar owner Chef Suzanne Tracht will host a special dinner to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Israel's Independence Day. Guest chefs Assaf Granit and Uri Navon from Jerusalem's Machneyuda restaurant will prepare sashimi, roasted eggplant, calamari, a field mushroom confit, and basbusa for dessert.  The traditional Middle Eastern feast will benefit Ultimate Peace, a summer camp and year-round program uniting Jewish and Arab youths in Israel.  Reservations can be made at 323.655.6566.

Chef Suzanne Goin & Chef Alice Waters Host Fundraiser

On Sunday, April 21, L.A. Chef Suzanne Goin and special guest chef Alice Waters of Chez Panisse will help raise funds to build a kitchen for the Larchmont Charter School in West Hollywood.  Diners can enjoy a healthy lunch produced from local farmers' market products with an ethnic flare.  Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Carondelet House, and Waters and Goin will sign cookbooks with proceeds benefiting the new Larchmont Charter School kitchen.  Prices are $150 for reception andlunch, $500 for single ticket and welcome reception with Alice, $5,000 for a table of 10 plus welcome reception and $1,000 to eat lunch with Alice.  Tickets can be purchased here.

Restaurant Openings

The Langham Resort in Pasadena has opened The Royce Wood-Fired Steakhouse with Chef Anthony Zappola, previously from Craft, at the helm. 

UMAMIcatessan has begun a series of guest chef dinners at The Residency Downtown.  Currently Chef Micah Wexler is cooking "Live and Dine in LA" themed-meals every Thursday night.  Two seatings serving 12 diners each seating are offered at 7:45 and 9:30 p.m.

Chef Ricardo Zarate of Picca and Mo-Chica fame will open Paiche, his Peruvian-Japanese Restaurant in Marina Del Rey on April 12.
